Not panicking. Really... _

Journal Entry: Mon Mar 15, 2010, 5:36 PM

So, checking up on the C2E2 website, I'm seeing that they're reporting a 50% higher registration rate for its debut this year than the New York Comic Con had in 2006.  Evidently, NYCC had a debut attendance of 33000 people.  Doing a quick bit of math, that means that somewhere around 49,500 people are currently registered, and we're still 5 weeks away.

I am... apprehensive, yet excited.  The last event I attended of comparable nature and size was a Creation Con in LA over 19 years ago(!!!) back when Gene Roddenberry was still alive (and my father still has the scars to prove it ;D ).

I'm already going into a quasi-stress mode about it, just because I've been out of this loop for so long.  It's not the crowds I'm as worried about, as much as logistics and my (irrational) fear of missing something.  C2E2 at least has a zillion maps and reference links, so I can print information to my compulsive heart's content.  I imagine I'll be studying everything I can get my hands on from now-ish until we leave on the 16th.

I did want to ask a couple of questions of more recent convention veterans:  Those who cosplay:  Do you choose one day to do it, or plan on the whole weekend (if you attend the entire event)?  I know some folks out there have multiple costumes, but I'm not among them! xD  And a more general question: Are there any particular con-related highlights or pitfalls nowadays that I should keep an eye out for?

We cosplay all weekend, bringing 3-4 costumes with us to change out. If you've only got one or two, pick the days that have the most attendence like Sat and Sun.

I spent 20 minutes trying to find a good "con tips" compilation (I know it exists!) but I couldn't locate it online. Sowwy!!! :(

Aw, that's all right - thanks for looking, and thanks a lot for the tip! I'll definitely plan to cosplay on that Saturday, and maybe Sunday depending on how things go. :)
