CSS... whee!

Journal Entry: Mon Mar 24, 2008, 1:47 PM
At last, I'm (slowly) getting the hang of CSS - yay!  :nerd:

My new white mechanical pencil is working wonderfully.  The drawing "Kinetic" represents my first effort using it, although it's probably hard to tell.  Then again, that was the point - I wanted a way to do a preliminary sketch that I could see clearly on black paper and still get fine detail.  This allows both of those things without causing the odd shiny "burn" lines that a graphite pencil will do on black paper.  (For an example, look at the outlines in "Undone" that show up in the shadows).  I'm really excited about this ('cos I'm such a geek); it may mean I don't have to start on white paper and "translate" to black anymore, which may allow for a bit more spontaneous feeling in the lines I'm working with. :boogie:

Translate to black? How the hell do you do that? :?

Where'd you find a 'white' mech. pencil? I've been looking everywhere for 'blue' mines, so I can't imagine how hard it is to find a 'white' one...if that makes sense...

merde...

You can see how I go from a black-on-white image to a grey-on-black finished product here in my process post for "Slumber". It's a somewhat time-consuming process that often results in overworking lines that began as fluid and dynamic. :hmm:

My white pencil is actually a quilting tool, believe it or not. I did a Google search on a whim and actually found one! The brand name is Fons & Porter, and they sell both the 0.9 pencil with white ceramic leads or you can just buy refills to fit any 0.9 pencil. I found mine at a Hobby Lobby craft store. :)
