My profile just passed 10K pageviews.
I know full well that pageviews aren't the end-all be-all, but there's still a marvelous feeling associated with knowing that one has been seen by someone else. And I freely admit there is a certain degree of validation that occurs at the five-digit mark, regardless of whether it consists of new individuals or repeat visitors.
While I draw and write for the characters and their universe, it's undeniable that the true significance of it is in the sharing. If I simply created in a vacuum, never interacting with others, my work wouldn't have the same meaning; it would just rattle around in its lonely little corner and eventually sit in silence.
The people who come and look at a picture or read a story are really the ones responsible for giving life to a creation. It's not even about "liking" a piece or not - what's important is the interaction and response that occurs, both positive and negative alike.
My work exists because of me. It lives because of all of you.
