Watching him sleep by FugueState Watching him sleep by FugueState
From :iconpeahopeless::devpeahopeless' story Beneath the Leaves, part of her Eve of the Fifth celebration on her website.

"His knees still bent into the backs of hers, even if hers had just gone walk-about. His torso still mapped the precise line of her spine. And his shoulders still angled protectively, shielding the space where she had been lying. ... ... Only his arm had made any drastic adjustment, now stretched almost entirely to her edge of the mattress. -- -- Either searching for her ... or waiting for her ... or both."

Very nice. The use of primarily browns to give it a certain feel... very comforting in a way... and the blue-ish highlights are great to simulate the moonlight coming through a window, or something of that sort.

I like the detail of the surroundings, with the books piled around, and the glasses on the top of the bed post.

At first, the fact that most of the image was in black was a little... off-setting. But, you actually get used to it quickly, and it's great for focusing the viewer's attention to what is important. :)

Thank you - This one was an experiment with colored pencils; I'd only ever used greys on black before.

I admit, my scanner got hyper-sensitive and punched the purple a lot more than the original shows... this is the compromise that resulted after a bit of correcting in Photoshop. :-)

Well, it was a good experiment. And the blues/purples look good here, can't imagine that they were that bad before... but they might have been, so good job fixing it. :)
