For ~peahopeless' story, "Trick Shot".

Special thanks to :icontrinity-tragedy: for her help with Photoshop!

"...occasionally, he would test himself here in this hallway. With the laundry room closed at the far end, and a standing target erected just in front of it, he had the perfect venue."

NOTE: Feedback for ~peahopeless's stories can be sent to PEAhopeless@aol.com . Be sure to put "fanfic" in your subject, so she doesn't mistake it for spam. :)

The 3D effect is really strange, in a good way. I have no idea how you achieved that. I mean, I look at the drawing and don't see the technique. A really weird feeling, it is O.o

I used multiple layers in Photoshop to get the effect. V is on his own layer, having been drawn separately. The background is another, put through a motion blur filter. My memory is a bit hazy on it, but I think I drew his shadow in Photoshop just before applying the filter on the background.

Oh, thanks for the explanation! I can actually see how it works... not sure I'll ever be in need of this trick, but it's always good to know :)

I'll start with Paul's reply, uttered about one minute ago. And I quote:

oh wow!
oh my god!
it's almost like it's layered
wow!
that's great!

Imagine that with wide eyes and much surprise.
And as for the layering, remember, we're science nerds in this house. We couldn't ';Photoshop' our way out of a paper bag.

I know I've said this ever since the first sketch some time back, but I can't believe how much motion you got into this. The legs -- the angle of the body -- it shows incredible speed. The twists on the fabric of his doublet/sleeves are amazing. And I love the fact that the knives are held in different ways. It's a variety you don't realize at first. Then you see it and thing ... hmmm ... shows how good he is with those knives since the hands will obviously be handling each knife differently, and goes to your credit (wednesday) that you'd actually catch that. The blur is amazing ... makes it look 3D! I just can't believe that, but it works. It pulls him out of the scene so we get to see him freeze frame, while the blur of the wall is even more of his 'speed'. (I hope this is making sense.)

Yes, it's making sense. ;-)

This one really kicked my butt for a good long while. I'm still not sure exactly why it did, but I'm at least glad it finally let me finish it. :phew: Many thanks to both you and Paul! :aww:
