Almost-Kiss by FugueState Almost-Kiss by FugueState
Ok...

This one came about after I saw vgstudio's image on Shutterstock.com (link) and then started chatting with ~peahopeless about it in relation to her fics.

Long-and-strange story short, this drawing was born, and a story for it will be on its way in the future. ;-)

[ED NOTE: The story has been written - it's called An Audience of One. :D ]

(And, to be fair - The pose was largely traced; I reversed it and tweaked it to fit these two. The shading was also modeled after the original photo - so whomever vgstudio is, he/she deserves partial credit for this one!)

NOTE: Feedback for ~peahopeless's stories can be sent to PEAhopeless@aol.com . Be sure to put "fanfic" in your subject, so she doesn't mistake it for spam. :)

Media: Pastel pencils, Photoshop lighting effects

Your drawing is very beautiful! But I think the reason why her torso looks so long is because it doesn't look like she's straddling V. I've never seen the photo reference but I'm assuming her butt would be on his leg rather than kinda going through his leg. Over all! It's such a romantic piece!

Yeah, at one point I tried superimposing the drawing over the reference (see below, original reference here: www.shutterstock.com/pic-25718… ) to see how the proportions did, and I can see that I trimmed too much off the female figure's back and bum. :blushes:  Ahh, well.  I'm glad it's still an enjoyable piece! :aww:

Oh God ! This is perfect .They are so beautiful together aren't they ? I mean just look at them .. how unique to see such a thing .. Ahhh how I wish to find a guy like him in this world.. But you see... nowadays humans are so superficial ...with everything ..especially LOVE. They are playing with feelings like it's just a FASHION GAME. I hate people [almost everyone]. and I hate that persons like him [ with such artistic skills and artistic point of view for life ] do not exist . :(

Thanks! ^^ This was one of the first drawings I did that used a specific photo reference for both figures. It was an interesting learning process!

The shading as usual is great, my only problem is with Evey's body. I saw the image you used as reference, but the length of her body is too narrow, it makes her spine appear to be very long. If you look at the body closely, you can see a diagonal line from the top of the hip (near the butt) to the bottom of her breasts. A good way to read a body is by looking at the shapes and the negative space, I think it would really help you out.

*looks at photo compared to drawing*

Huh. Wha'dya know. I did draw Evey's torso a touch narrower than the model's - made her derriere a bit smaller too. :) I actually went through and superimposed one over the other for comparison - it was an interesting exercise, lol! (I put it into scraps if you're curious). Ah well. I'm still happy enough with it to let it continue roaming in the wild. :D

(I did notice that the couple in the photo didn't really seem to be a true "couple"... at least the difference from the photo to the drawing put Evey's torso closer to V's, where I imagine it's preferred. ;-) )

Long and strange story ... ... LOL
(Doesn't that describe many of our group's conversations? ;)

Oh yes. This story will be the one right after I do this V/Finch story I'm on right now. The golfclaps that you uncompassionate people give me will be solidified into it all by the time I'm done. (sigh)

I *love* the detail in both her hair and his. Good choice on the bra (I can say that because I know the types you were passing on ;) ).

Her face ... man ... and the thing is, I saw the early sketches, her face was that good then already. Her face has amazed me the whole way through on this one. I even recall commenting that you had her *eyemakeup* right already in the early *sketch*. That has just fascinated me the whole way through.

You know what else I really like ... the light and dark shading on the area just below her hip (I guarantee you he's noticed it, because now he's fighting me on the Finch story, god damn it), and likewise the shading on his hand and on her bottom.

Bravo for the catch on the pendant, and I still can't figure out how mere humans can figure out fabric like that on his sleeve. :)

And the bend on his fingers around her back ... perfect. :D

OOOPS
Just realized, I said that wrong.
I meant the shading ABOVE her hip ... the diagonal line that marks the side of her tummy.

W00t!!!! :evillaugh:

>Good choice on the bra

Thank you - that was my first attempt at drawing lingerie! :)

>the shading ABOVE her hip

That ended up being one of my favorite parts, actually. I was *extremely* grateful for the lighting in the photo I used as a model, believe me!

>Bravo for the catch on the pendant,

thenkyu. :-)

>and I still can't figure out how mere humans can figure out fabric like that on his sleeve. :)

*blushes* It's not all from me - I rely heavily on good photo and art references, so I'm just standing on the shoulders of *much* greater individuals. :blushes:
